The Curriculum Database has been developed based on the Economic
Capabilities Guideline. The Guideline identifies what we hope
each Canadian will ultimately develop in terms of knowledge, skills, attitudes,
and attributes related to his or her economic life. To achieve that objective,
though, those involved in education and training require the guidance
of curriculathe specific learning outcomes/expectations that can facilitate improved
economic capability in Canada.
To that end, the Curriculum Database provides an inventory of outcomes/expectations
that can be considered by those who are involved in reviewing, revising,
and developing curriculum related to economics, entrepreneurship, or enterprise.
We hope that those involved in such activities can use the Database as
a means to:
- review the extent to which existing curricula address outcomes/expectations
included in the Database
- revise curricula and select those outcomes/expectations they would
like to include in their revisions
- develop new curricula and "shop" the Database to select outcomes/expectations
that they would like to include in new courses of study or modules within
courses (the CODEor Curriculum Organization and Development Editorhas
been developed to assist curriculum developers in selecting specific
outcomes/expectations)
But the Database contains even more. If you click on a selected outcome/expectation,
you will find some suggested teaching activities, resources, and links.
By selecting an outcome/ expectation, you can also download these suggested
references.
Note that this stage of activity is currently under development.
Not all outcomes/ expectations have associated activities/resources/links.
These will be added continuously over time.
We invite you to review the Database and use the CODE to select outcomes/expectations
that are of interest.
Note that the Database consists of two parts. One section is devoted
to outcomes/expectations at the elementary grade levels; the other section
focuses on middle and high school level outcomes/expectations. You can
enter either Database by clicking on the relevant icon below.
