Economic Education

EconEdLink (www.econedlink.org/)

EconEdLink is a program of the National Council on Economic Education (U.S.) that provides a source of classroom-tested, Internet-based, economic lesson materials for K-12 teachers and students. Online lessons are organized under three headings:

  • EconomicsMinute, which explains the connections between economics and real work issues like Online Music (and 93 more K-12 lessons in the archive);

  • MillionaireMinute focuses on personal financial planning issues such as My Credit Rating (and 3 more in the archive);

  • NetNewsLine, which looks at the economics behind current issues like The Economics of Professional Sport (and 9 more in the archive).

The CyberTeach button leads to a comprehensive guide to teaching economics using the Internet. Applicable to all grade levels and subject areas, this section contains EconEdLetter, information on basic web skills, model lessons, and templates for creating effective lesson plans on your own.

The Current Events button provides access to the latest economics news and information. Come here to learn more about what's happening in the world of economics and to access related lesson plans.

The WebLink button provides access to web sites selected for the K-12 economics educator and includes curriculum materials, activities, and economics data in easy-to-use formats.

The Standards link at the top of the site provides access to an annotated list of the 20 Voluntary National (U.S.) Content Standards in Economics.
