LEADER Network
During the fall of 1998, CFEE organized a series of Forums for educators interested in joining our national LEADER Network.
Currently, CFEE maintains a small central staff and works in close collaboration with a "circle of entrepreneurs" to design and develop resources and programs. However, to be effective in a nation the size of Canada with all its diversity and local needs, CFEE needs a widespread network of local contacts. It is this network of local contacts that will:
- identify local needs
- review concepts, ideas, and proposals
- generate new ideas
- pilot programs and projects
- provide advice re tailoring resources and programs to local needs
- help disseminate resources and information
- gather and synthesize feedback from those in the community
- assist with local workshop planning and implementation
- provide general and ongoing advice
Each Forum brought together approximately 20 educators who are interested in the "cause" of economic education and in working in a liaison relationship with CFEE to improve the economic capability of Canadians - especially youth.
The Forum program focused on ensuring that our LEADERS have a solid understanding of fundamental economic principles and how economic concepts and reasoning can be applied to everyday life and the decisions and issues we all face. The emphasis was on "practical" and "functional" economics rather than theoretical.
If you have questions, or would like more information about this Network, please contact us.
