Environomics: Exploring the Links between the Economy and the Environment

EnvironomicsProduction activities within our economy have generated many of our environmental problems. Consumers, households, and governments have also contributed to our environmental problems. At the same time, producers, consumers, households, and governments hold the key to solutions that can sustain and improve our environment.

The close link between the economy and the environment is too often ignored and frequently misunderstood. Environomics has been developed to assist educators, involved in a wide variety of subject areas, to teach students about the relationship between the environment and the economy.

This 250-page teaching kit includes teaching strategies, background readings, student activities, reference articles, overhead transparency masters, and more. It is divided into a number of Units and is designed to be flexible — teachers can use as much, or as little, as is required to address individual needs and circumstances. Educators are free to copy all handouts for students so that there are no consumables to purchase and the kit can be used with any number of classes. Environomics has been produced in a three-hole-punched format so that teachers can put it in a binder and build the teaching kit further over time by adding new articles and other resource material.
